What to Expect at Down at the Abbey 2026

Once again, I praise you for a diverse line-up, with decent representation of female musicians. The atmosphere inside the Abbey is one of safety and enjoyment.” (2023 audience survey response).

Down at the Abbey is an outdoor event that strives to be different.

For both event days there will be TWO stages and NO clashes with some of the best local, national, and international emerging artists. You will find your new favourite act at Down at the Abbey!

Friday (5pm-11pm) will feature EIGHT artists, and Saturday (12:30pm – 11pm) SIXTEEN artists.

The event attracts a family friendly and like-minded audience congregating in the inspiring 900yr old Ruins – illuminated after dark.

The site is kept free of any litter – just pass anything onto our friendly volunteers who hand-sort our recycling and (very limited) waste.

Easy access and hard-standing paths throughout for accessibility.

Local independent food and drink traders.

Our bars will include non-alcholic options (including non-alc. beers & mocktails).

Saturday will see free children’s activities and is free entry for Under 11’s (ticket registration required).

The site is in Reading town centre just a few minutes walk from Reading Train Station. There is no camping or on-site parking.

“I am a big fan of Down At The Abbey. It’s a great festival but it is also one of a very few truly wheelchair accessible ones because of the path system and how it is set up”. (Previous festival customer)
