Our festivals simply wouldn’t happen without the incredible volunteers who give their time, energy and enthusiasm to help create unforgettable experiences for artists, audiences and fellow music lovers.
Whether you’re a returning volunteer or getting involved for the first time, we’d love to hear from you.
Volunteering is a fantastic way to experience a festival from a different perspective. You’ll become part of a friendly and supportive team, meet new people, gain valuable event experience, and play an important role in bringing live music to life across Reading. Many of our volunteers return year after year and become a valued part of our festival family.
Volunteer Roles
There are a variety of ways to get involved, depending on your interests and availability. Typical volunteer roles include:
· Welcoming guests at ticket collection, including wristbanding and accreditation.
· Stewarding and audience assistance.
· Merchandise sales.
· Supporting the event team’s welfare – managing the behind-the-scenes team facilities.
· Event set-up and break-down assistance.
· General event operations.
No previous experience is necessary. A positive attitude, reliability and a willingness to help are the most important qualities we look for in our team.
What to Expect
Before the event we’ll provide all the information you need, including role details, arrival instructions and contact information. We’ll also make sure you’re briefed and supported throughout your shift.
Our aim is to create a welcoming, inclusive and enjoyable volunteering experience where everyone feels valued and part of the team.
Finally on your working day as a team member, outside of your shift hours you will be able to enjoy the festival as our guest.
Are You Listening? Festival
Are You Listening? is Reading’s flagship multi-venue music festival, showcasing emerging and established artists across venues throughout the town centre.
Volunteers play a key role in helping audiences find their way, supporting festival operations and ensuring everyone has a great experience.
Down At The Abbey
Down At The Abbey is a unique celebration of music, culture and heritage set amongst the historic surroundings of Reading Abbey Quarter.
We’re always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us deliver another fantastic festival and welcome visitors to one of Reading’s most iconic locations.
