Dear friends,
Following on from the government’s extension of the current lockdown restrictions until the 19th July, we thought it was best to reassure our audience that we are confident that Down At The Abbey 2021 will still go ahead as planned. We also want to let you know of the steps we’re taking to ensure the event is safe and follows the recommended guidelines set by the government.
Down at the Abbey Festival is a fully outdoor, open-air event which means it’s at the lower end of risk of COVID transmission. Should we need to, we have planned the festival to run on a reduced audience capacity of 50% of its normal calculated capacity in line with the current Government guidelines.
If needed, we have also planned a one way system in and out of the festival site and additional cleaning measures will be placed on-site as well as hand sanitising points that will be easily accessible across the site in particular at entrance and exit, bars, food stalls, and toilets.
Now here comes the hard part…
If circumstances mean the festival can only go ahead with social distancing rules then we have come to the decision that we will have to cancel Down At The Abbey 2021. With these restrictions in place, the ruins site would not allow for us to continue the festival and as organisers this is not the kind of event we set out to provide.
If this is the case we would offer the choice of a full refund for pre-purchased tickets or the option to rollover your 2021 ticket to use it instead for Down At The Abbey 2022, scheduled for the weekend of the 10th September 2022.
We are confident that with vaccination numbers continuing to increase each day and hospital numbers staying low, along with the restriction extension announced last week, there is plenty of time to expect that Down At The Abbey 2021 will go ahead as planned.
See you very soon, in the ruins!
Down At The Abbey
